Social responsibility

Ferrero S.p.A. is committed socially and environmentally, contributing through its corporate programme to improving the quality of life of its employees, safeguarding the environment and being active in social initiatives, while maintaining the highest standards of corporate citizenship.

Our programme focuses primarily on three areas:

  • Employees and People
  • Environmental Protection, Health and Safety
  • Relationships with Clients and Suppliers

Within its activities, Ferrero S.p.A. is committed to safeguarding human and environmental aspects in accordance with the SA8000 Standard issued by Social Accountability International (SAI) and the ISO 14001 environmental protection standard.

We are committed to ensuring that the same standards for environmental protection, occupational health and safety are respected not only by our internal staff but also by external collaborators and partners/suppliers, who are periodically monitored and approved.

EMPLOYEES AND PEOPLE

For Ferrero S.p.A., people are the central factor in the company’s success, and consequently we take seriously our responsibility to protect, support and prepare workers so that they can build successful careers while safeguarding their interests.

We strongly believe in everyone’s right to work and are firmly committed to equal opportunities and the protection of human rights through a corporate welfare programme.

Our primary objective is to ensure that employees work in a healthy and safe environment, and we invest significant resources to make machinery and equipment as safe as possible.The company carries out the identification and selection of employees, as well as external collaborators and consultants, with complete impartiality, autonomy and independence of judgement, in a non-discriminatory manner based on gender, race, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation and political opinions, in full compliance with current legislation and internal procedures. It requires its employees to be aware of and adhere to the provisions of the Code of Ethics and, insofar as individual capabilities allow, to promote its understanding among newly hired employees as well as third parties affected by its application with whom they come into contact.

We place the highest and continuous attention on the development of human resources. To this end, Ferrero S.p.A. considers meritocracy, professional competence, honesty and proper conduct as key principles for all decisions concerning career development and any other aspect related to the employee.

Employees are required to act with consistent respect for the rights and individuality of colleagues, collaborators and third parties, regardless of their hierarchical position within the Company.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, HEALTH AND SAFETY

We consider the protection of the environment and nature as fundamental values and a heritage for all to safeguard, and for this reason we have held ISO 14001 certification from RINA for several years.

Ferrero S.p.A. recognises its social responsibilities in a rigorous and ongoing manner and is committed to environmental protection and the prevention of environmental harm. Although our facilities and operations have a limited ecological footprint, we reduce environmental impact through conservation, preservation and waste reduction practices.

To this end, within the scope of our activities we are committed to contributing to the development and well-being of the communities in which we operate, aiming to ensure the safety and health of employees, clients and the communities affected by our operations, while reducing environmental impact.

We therefore pay particular attention to the efficient use of energy and resources, the selection of materials and processes, the reduction of CO2 consumption, and product design that considers reuse and recycling.

We manage our activities in compliance with current regulations on environment, health and occupational safety, and we are committed to using the most suitable technologies, preventing business risks and reducing both direct and indirect corporate impact.

Ferrero S.p.A. is therefore committed to promoting and reinforcing a culture of safety among employees and collaborators, raising awareness of risks and encouraging responsible behaviour by all. Employees and collaborators, within the scope of their duties and functions, participate in risk prevention, environmental protection and the safeguarding of health and safety for themselves, their colleagues and third parties.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH CLIENTS AND SUPPLIERS

Ferrero S.p.A. pursues success in national and international markets by offering high-quality products on competitive terms, in compliance with regulations designed to protect fair competition.

With regard to relationships with partners and suppliers, operations are conducted in compliance with the law, the principles set out in the Code of Ethics, existing contracts, and internal procedures. Employees responsible for relationships with suppliers and service providers carry out their selection and manage these relationships according to principles of impartiality and fairness, avoiding, including potentially, any conflicts of interest with them.

Ferrero S.p.A. is also committed to strictly complying with competition laws and refrains from engaging in deceptive, collusive, or any other behaviour that could constitute unfair competition towards other companies in the market.
 

CONCLUSION

Each of us in the company is required to support the commitment to corporate social responsibility. We encourage the participation of our entire organisational structure by disseminating the Code of Ethics to all employees and constantly monitoring the conduct of all internal and external collaborators, in order to improve our workplaces and contribute to the communities we serve, ensuring that our actions are socially, ethically and environmentally responsible.
